Privacy Policy

Rashiyo (“we”, “us”) is an astrology content service at rashiyo.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, where it is stored, and how you can remove it. We aim to comply with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

1. What we collect

When you use the chart calculator, you may enter:

• •Name (as you type it — a nickname works fine)
• •Date of birth (DD/MM/YYYY)
• •Time of birth (optional — if left blank we use 12:00 PM as a neutral default)
• •Birth city (used only to derive approximate latitude/longitude)

We also record anonymous product analytics events (for example: “a reading was generated”) with a random session identifier, a feature label and your browser user-agent string. These events are not linked to your name or birth details.

2. Why we collect it

Solely to compute your astrological chart — planetary positions, lagna, nakshatra and the readings derived from them. Birth date, time and city are the mathematical inputs to that calculation; without them no personalised chart can be produced. Your name is used only to address you in the reading.

3. Where your data is stored

This depends on whether you choose to save your profile:

• •Guest / unsaved use: your birth details stay on your own device. They are held in memory for the session and in your browser's session storage. They are not written to our database.
• •Saved profiles (“save on this device”): your profile list is stored in your browser's localStorage under the keys rashiyo:local-profiles and rashiyo:local-active-id. This stays on your device.
• •Stay-signed-in session: if you choose to be remembered, your profile is also written into an encrypted, httpOnly session cookie issued by our server. The contents are encrypted server-side, your browser cannot read them, and only an opaque random token is kept in localStorage for cross-tab syncing. The session expires automatically after 7 days, or immediately when you clear your data.
• •Server database: our backend tables that can hold personal fields have row-level security enabled with policies that deny all access to public/anonymous clients; they are reachable only by our own server-side code.

Astrological calculations run locally in your browser using a deterministic ephemeris; they do not require sending your birth details to any third party.

4. AI Deep-Dive

If you tap the optional “AI Deep-Dive Analysis” card, the derived chart summary (moon sign, ascendant, nakshatra, planetary degrees and the name you entered) is sent through our server to our AI provider to generate the write-up. Your full date of birth, exact time and city are not sent, and we do not store these requests or use them to train models.

5. We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data to third parties, and we do not run data-broker or advertising-profile integrations on your birth details.

6. Your rights and deleting your data

• •Delete a saved profile: open the profile / family switcher drawer and tap the delete (✕) control next to that name.
• •Delete everything on this device: use the “🔄 Kisi Aur Ka Check Karein / Clear Guest Data” action, which clears all locally stored profiles and the active-profile marker.
• •End the server session: clearing guest data or signing out clears the encrypted session cookie; it also expires on its own after 7 days.
• •Browser-level: clearing site data for rashiyo.com removes every locally stored value.

For any request relating to access, correction or erasure of data you believe we hold, write to privacy@rashiyo.com and we will action it within 30 days.

7. Children

Rashiyo is not directed at children under 18. Please do not submit a child’s birth details without the consent of their parent or guardian.

8. Changes

We may update this policy as the product changes. The “Last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
